Datalogic Connect
Datalogic Connect is a cloud-based platform for managing Datalogic IoT devices across retail environments. It provides a centralized workspace where operational teams can monitor device status, organize device fleets, and perform remote actions such as configuration changes, command execution, and firmware updates.
The platform is designed for organizations that operate devices across one or more stores, sites, or regions. By bringing device inventory, access control, and operational data into a single service, Datalogic Connect helps teams apply consistent processes while retaining control over local resources.
Platform scope
Datalogic Connect supports the management of compatible Datalogic fixed retail scanners, handheld scanners, mobile devices, and IoT Edge devices. An IoT Edge Gateway is deployed at each site to provide the connection between Datalogic Connect services and devices on the local network. Depending on the device type, the gateway communicates directly with the device or through a POS system running AladdinSDS.
This architecture enables cloud-based monitoring and management while device communication remains integrated with the local store environment. For a detailed description of the components and communication paths, see Architecture. For device compatibility, firmware requirements, and deployment options, see Supported devices.
Core concepts
Datalogic Connect uses the following concepts to organize and manage a device fleet:
- Organization: The top-level container for a retail customer and its device inventory.
- Location: A physical or logical subdivision of an organization, such as a store, region, or business unit.
- User and role: A user account with permissions determined by its assigned role and location scope.
- Device group: A logical collection of devices that can be managed as a single target.
- Action: An operation performed on one or more devices, for example a firmware update, configuration change, or command.
These concepts allow teams to delegate access appropriately and perform operations consistently across a large device estate. See Overview for more information about organizations, locations, users, device groups, and actions.
